Florida Christian Rapper

Reconcile is a Christian hip hop artist from Fort Myers, Florida, who lives and works in Miami. His real name is Ronnie Lillard. He has released eight albums, gave a TEDx talk in Miami in 2022, and runs We The Revolt, a Miami nonprofit that works with young people inside the juvenile justice system.

Born in Fort Myers

Ronald Stephen Lillard Jr. was born in Fort Myers in 1989 and grew up in Dunbar and the neighborhoods around it. His mother was a teenager when he was born and was mostly absent. He was raised in and out of his father’s care and later by his grandparents. Money was always short. As a teenager he lived under probation and curfew, and his grandmother stood beside him in court more than once. Football at Lehigh Senior High School gave him a way forward, and it earned him a scholarship to Rice University in Houston.

That Southwest Florida childhood is the ground his music stands on. He does not write about the streets as a costume. He writes about them as the place that shaped him and the place he keeps going back to.

Miami is home base

Today Reconcile is based in Miami. It is the headquarters of We The Revolt, the nonprofit he leads, which does juvenile justice re-entry work with young people in Miami-Dade and Broward counties and community programming in Little Haiti. He has advocated in the Florida legislature for police training reform and juvenile justice improvements. In 2022 he gave a TEDx talk in Miami about the juvenile justice system and what rap music does to the neighborhoods it describes.

So when people ask about rap in Miami or rap in Florida with something to say, his name belongs in the conversation. The crowd he performs for and the young men he works with during the week are the same people.

The music

His catalog starts with Abandoned Hope in 2012. Sacrifice (2014) reached No. 2 on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart and charted on Billboard’s rap and gospel album charts. The Streets Don’t Love You series followed in 2017, 2019, and 2020, then Light of the Trenches (2022), Forever (2023), and Baptized in Mud (2025). He has played festival and amphitheater stages in Miami, Houston, and Phoenix, building those crowds without a major label behind him.
