Reconcile makes Christian hip hop for people who still live where the songs take place. It is rap about faith that does not pretend the streets are simple, and rap about the streets that does not pretend God is absent from them.
Rap about Jesus that sounds like where it comes from
A lot of people looking for positive rap or positive trap music want the same thing: the sound they already love, without the glorification of violence, money, and numbness. Reconcile came up in Fort Myers, Florida, and did his early work in Houston’s Third Ward and the Cuney Homes, so his music carries the South in it. What changes is what the songs are for. They treat the street life as conditioning, not as a fantasy, and they point toward Christ as the way out of it.
He has said it plainly: “I tend to look at culture like a long conversation we keep having with ourselves, even when we pretend it’s new.” His records are his side of that conversation.
Where to start
- Baptized in Mud (2025). The current album, built like a witness statement: faith, failure, grief, and the weight of surviving. Start with “Road to Redemption” and “My Hope Is Hard to Kill.”
- Streets Don’t Love You 1, 2 and 3 (2017, 2019, 2020). A three part series on what the streets take from young men. Parts 2 and 3 both reached No. 5 on iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap.
- Sacrifice (2014). His breakout record. No. 2 on iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap, and it charted on Billboard’s rap and gospel album charts.
- Light of the Trenches (2022) and Forever (2023).

CHH with a job to do
Christian hip hop, CHH, gospel rap: whatever you call it, Reconcile’s version is tied to real work. He is the CEO of We The Revolt, which does juvenile justice re-entry work with young people in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. When Baptized in Mud came out, he put ten thousand dollars of his own album rollout into violence prevention in Chicago. The songs and the work make the same argument.
